When Jordan scored 49 against the Philadelphia 76ers, it was another example of his
ability to elevate beyond what anyone thought was possible. The 56% shooting efficiency
on that volume of attempts is what separated him from every other scorer in history.

Won 2 Championships As A Backup. Then Became The Guy. Then Won Nothing.
Sam Cassell won back-to-back championships with Houston in 1994 and 1995 — while Jordan was retired.
He was a backup. When he became the starter for Milwaukee, he averaged 20 points and 8 assists and took
the Bucks to the Eastern Conference Finals. He never won another ring. His career is a perfect example of
the lottery of team construction: he was a champion when his team was great, a loser when his team wasn't,
and excellent throughout.
The Jordan Connection: Cassell's Houston championships — won while Jordan played baseball — are the
only championships of the Jordan era not won by the Bulls. His rings are the asterisk years, which is unfair to
him but true to the history.
