When Jordan scored 49 against the Philadelphia 76ers, it was another example of his
ability to elevate beyond what anyone thought was possible. The 54% shooting efficiency
on that volume of attempts is what separated him from every other scorer in history.

3x All-Star. Hidden Addiction. Career Silently Unraveled.
Vin Baker made three All-Star teams and averaged 19.2 points at his peak. He was a legitimate All-NBA
caliber power forward in the mid-1990s. Then alcoholism quietly dismantled his career — his production
dropped, his weight fluctuated, he bounced between teams. He's now a Starbucks employee and has
spoken openly about his recovery. His peak career (1995-98) overlapped directly with Jordan's second
three-peat. He was one of the best power forwards in the league during those years. Almost nobody
remembers.
The Jordan Connection: Baker's Bucks and SuperSonics teams competed in the Western and Eastern
Conferences during Jordan's second three-peat. His peak years — when he was genuinely elite — coincided
with the era Jordan dominated so completely that all other excellent players were overshadowed.
