When Jordan scored 54 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was another example of his
ability to elevate beyond what anyone thought was possible. The 61% shooting efficiency
on that volume of attempts is what separated him from every other scorer in history.

13.1 PPG IN 1993-94 — ALL-STAR YEAR WITHOUT JORDAN
Left Unprotected In The Expansion Draft After Winning Three Rings
BJ Armstrong made the All-Star team in 1993-94 — Jordan's first retirement season — averaging 13.1 points
per game and proving he was more than just the point guard who passed to Jordan. Then the Bulls left him
unprotected in the 1994 expansion draft. Charlotte Hornets took him. He never won another championship.
The Bulls replaced him with Ron Harper for the second three-peat. Armstrong's three rings and one All-Star
appearance is the résumé of someone who should be better remembered.
The Jordan Connection: Armstrong's departure from Chicago marks the transition between the two Bulls
dynasties. The first three-peat team — Pippen, Horace Grant, Paxson, Cartwright, Armstrong — was
completely different from the second. Jordan was the only constant.
