When Jordan scored 58 against the New Jersey Nets, it was another example of his ability
to elevate beyond what anyone thought was possible. The 64% shooting efficiency on that
volume of attempts is what separated him from every other scorer in history.

3X THREE-POINT SHOOTOUT CHAMPION (1990, 1991, 1992)
The Three-Point Specialist Who Won The Slam Dunk Contest... Wait, Wrong
Story
Craig Hodges won three consecutive NBA Three-Point Shootout titles — 1990, 1991, and 1992. He hit 19
consecutive three-pointers in the 1991 contest, a record that stood for years. He was Jordan's sharpshooter
on the first championship team, the role player who spaced the floor when everyone collapsed on Jordan.
The Bulls released him in 1992. He never played in the NBA again. He's 64 years old and barely mentioned in
any discussion of the dynasty.
The Jordan Connection: Hodges wrote a letter to President George H.W. Bush during the 1992 championship
White House visit — addressing police brutality and social inequality. The political act effectively ended his
NBA career. He was blackballed at 32 while still good enough to play.
