MICHAEL JORDAN KOBE BRYANT LEBRON JAMES
January 16, 1993. Jordan scored 64 points against Orlando at home. He shot 27-of-49 from the field. 27
made field goals. The Bulls lost. Orlando had Shaquille O'Neal in his second season and Nick Anderson
putting up 50. It didn't matter how many Jordan scored — it wasn't enough. This is the other side of the
GOAT argument nobody brings up: individual greatness cannot always carry a team. The Bulls lost with 64
from their best player. That game still haunts the stat line.

64. Not Enough.
THE NIGHT INDIVIDUAL GREATNESS HAD A LIMIT
Orlando had Shaq in year two, Penny Hardaway wasn't there yet — but Nick Anderson went off. The Magic
beat the Bulls despite Jordan dropping 64 on 27-of-49 shooting. Notice 27 made field goals — that's more
made field goals than most players attempt in a game. Jordan shot 49 times. He made 27. He scored 64. And
his team lost by however many. The 1992-93 Bulls would win the championship that June — third straight —
but on January 16th in Chicago, even Jordan at 64 couldn't stop what happened.

Jordan lost multiple games where he scored 50+ points. The argument that one player can single-handedly
win any game falls apart when you look at the data. Even 64 points from the best player alive wasn't enough
on January 16, 1993. This is what teammates are for.

NO ALIBIS
He Took 49 Shots In A Loss And Didn't Make
Excuses.
After the 64-point loss, Jordan didn't blame his teammates. Didn't point at the box score
as evidence he did his part. He showed up the next game and kept playing. The mental
framework of elite performers isn't 'I did enough' — it's 'we didn't win, so it wasn't
enough.' Jordan processed a 64-point loss the same way he processed any other loss:
move on, fix it, come back. The Bulls won the championship that year anyway.

John Paxson
CHICAGO BULLS · 1985–1994
10-OF-10 FG IN GAME 5 OF THE 1991 FINALS
He Hit The Shot Nobody Remembers
John Paxson hit the championship-winning three-pointer with 3.9 seconds left in Game 6 of the 1993 Finals
against Phoenix. A shooting guard who averaged 8.7 PPG for his career, in the biggest moment of the
biggest game, with Jordan's assist. Paxson played 9 seasons as the archetypal role player — efficient,
selfless, invisible until the moment required him. He hit the shot. Nobody talks about him.
The Jordan Connection: Jordan trusted Paxson more than any other teammate in late-game situations. 'When
I kicked it to Pax, I knew it was going in.' The 1993 championship lives in Jordan's hands and Paxson's fingers.
